NBC is getting back into the world of comic book adaptations, but this time they aren’t eyeing Marvel or DC. After a single season of Constantine, which featured Matt Ryan playing the DC comics character John Constantine, failed to gain the traction they were hoping it would, the network is shifting gears a bit. This time around, they will be bringing the Top Cow comic Witchblade to the small screen....

Zack Snyder likes to do things big, and Army of the Dead was a prime example. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount saw Zodiac take the top spot on Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart. New Line Home Entertainment had success with The Number 23 as it came in at No. 2. The Number 23 was No. 1 on Home Media Magazine’s video rental chart. Paramount has given 2 of it upcoming action films release dates. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been moved to Christmas 2013, with Tom Cruise’s One Shot slotted in for the 2012 holiday season. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles follows the sewer-dwelling heroes Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael as well as their master Splinter on another adventure. The story is based on the characters created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. One Shot stars Tom Cruise and follows Jack Reacher, a former military man who has become a policeman contends with an ex-infantry specialist who was arrested for shooting five people....

FX’s You’re the Worst, the critically-acclaimed comedy series from creator and showrunner Stephen Falk, has been renewed for a fifth and final season, it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions. Falk and FX Networks jointly decided to make the fifth season, which will air on FXX in 2018, the series’ finale. Here’s what FX’s Nick Grad had to say in a statement about the final season....

There were a few fans of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that were not sure how to take the news that the classic Will Smith comedy of the 1990s would be getting a reboot, and even less sure when it was then announced that it would not be a comedy reboot, but transform the show into a drama called Bel-Air. It seems that while some fans may have misgivings about the idea, one person who appears to be fully on board with the new reimagined version of the show is Smith himself, who recently said that he believes the new take is “perfectly balanced....

The Robert Zemeckis project Yellow Submarine has been cut loose at Disney, which is the result of Mars Needs Moms opening with just $6.9 million at the box office this past weekend. Mars Needs Moms was produced with a $150 million production budget. Robert Zemeckis served as a producer of Mars Needs Moms, and now the filmmaker must seek another studio home for his remake of the classic movie starring The Beatles....

Zendaya made history at the Emmys. The 24-year-old actress became the youngest ever in the history of the awards ceremony to take home one of the night’s top prizes; Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Zendaya beat out the competition in one of this year’s biggest surprises for her work in HBO’s Euphoria. The 72nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards proceeded with a virtual edition this year, with Jimmy Kimmel hosting. This article contains spoilers for We’re All Going to the World’s Fair Since the inception of the internet, films have tried and mostly failed to capture the experience of being online. Two cheesy early attempts from 1995, Hackers and The Net, set a low bar for intelligently tackling the topic on the big screen. Still, it has been surprisingly difficult to make significantly better work. 2018’s Searching might be the most successful example, but its connection to the web is more of an aesthetic gimmick than a core aspect of its story or themes....

With positive reviews rolling in for Top Gun: Maverick, it may inspire studios to greenlight more sequels to 1980s properties. While 1986’s Top Gun was the highest-grossing film that year, much can change in thirty-six years. It will be interesting to track the film’s numbers upon its May 24th release date. The long-delayed project is accompanied by a tremendous amount of hope by major studios (and those holding onto the rights of other iconic retro properties) that its success will pave the way for revisiting more classics audiences will turn out for....
