Nicolas Cage recently told audiences he was a goth and owned a pet crow. It follows naturally that he would thereafter be portraying Dracula in Renfield, a new horror/dark comedy film about the Transylvanian’s castle of terror. The film, however, rather than focusing on the blood-sucking nightmare that is the archetypal Dracula and his slaughter of those who visit his towering gothic fortress, will focus on the drama within the walls....

We reported last month that Summit Entertainment was reaching out to several top-flight directors and it seems that one has emerged as the favorite. Deadline New York is reporting that Bill Condon is the top candidate to direct The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. It was said that a deal hasn’t been officially signed, but both Condon and the studio have been in multiple meetings and negotiations. It was said that Condon would direct both parts of the two-part film and the site heard rumblings that both films would be shot back-to-back....

Riding high on his big-screen return as Spider-Man villain Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Willem Dafoe will make his Saturday Night Live presenting debut on the final show of the month. Following Will Forte’s SNL return on January 22nd as host for the first time, Dafoe will lead the proceedings on the late-night NBC comedy series on January 29th, and will be joined on the show by musical guest Katy Perry in her fourth SNL appearance....

Xavier Gens, director of Hitman, has been rumored to be the director for Nu Image’s Conan. IGN has heard from a source inside the production that Gens is not yet signed to direct Conan, but is only one of the contenders that producers have met with. Gens has confirmed that he has met with Nu Image about directing, and states that if hired he “would like to come back to the original material with the influence of the John Milius movie....

The Yari Film Group’s distribution division has been forced into involuntary bankruptcy, the company’s CEO Bob Yari announced, according The Hollywood Reporter. Four creditors took action against the company, forcing the Los Angeles division of United States Bankruptcy Court to order Yari’s releasing arm into Chapter 11, forcing it to reorganize. The company is disputing the debts. Yari blamed the tightening credit markets and the earlier bankruptcy of payroll company Axium, which according to Yari swept millions of dollars from its payroll accounts, as a “perfect storm” that sunk the company financially....

The Purge movies take a different approach when representing themselves as a horror movie, filling the films in the franchise with plenty of jump scares and bloody moments, but also a nightmare political agenda. The basis of the movies rely on The Purge; twelve hours of lawless rule, where any and all crime is legal and there are zero consequences in return, even when it comes to murder. It started in 2013, when the first Purge movie was released in theaters, and starred Ethan Hawke, who just recently starred in The Black Phone....

With a trilogy of feature films, 46 episodes of Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, and two live shows separated by thirty years, Paul Reubens could easily retire as an accomplished pop-culture icon, but nobody wants that. When the third Pee-Wee Herman film was in development, there was talk of the plot revolving entirely around the characters established in Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. While Birds of Prey failed to set the box office on fire, its lead character Harley Quinn continues to be a major draw, as evidenced by the success of her animated series. The trailer for the second season of Harley Quinn dropped recently, and writer for the series Justin Halpern spoke about the possibility of a third season renewal. Halpern sounds cautiously optimistic that the show will be extended by least another season after wrapping the second one....

Could we see the return of Owen Lars, aka Luke Skywalker’s uncle Owen, to the Star Wars universe in the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series? According to actor Joel Edgerton, it’s a very real possibility. For those who perhaps don’t recall, Edgerton played the part of Owen in George Lucas’ prequel trilogy in both Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Last month, two different costumes were unveiled for the NBC pilot Wonder Woman. While it was initially thought that the changes made from the first costume were in response to negative feedback, it seems they are two separate costumes, with a third that hasn’t been shown yet. Director Christopher Nolan’s Inception has been a big hit in theaters, with three straight wins atop the box office and now it seems that the film has inadvertently shaped the way another film will be made. The Los Angeles Times recently spoke with X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn, who revealed that elements of X-Men: First Class have already been changed to avoid similarities shown in Inception. Actor Penn Badgley has revealed further insight into the continuing adventures of stalker and serial killer Joe Goldberg in the upcoming fourth season of You. The series will find Joe now living in London, with Badgley claiming that the killer will be far too focused on academia and professionalism to stalk and murder people. We’ll see how long that lasts… Speaking with EW, Badgley’s words describe a Joe Goldberg who has seemingly left his so-called “extracurricular activities” behind him....
