According to a story in The Los Angeles Times, which takes a look at the release of Orson Scott Card’s new Ender novel Ender in Exile, Wolfgang Peterson has dropped out of directing a big screen adaptation of the original Ender book Ender’s Game. The film was scrapped due to Card’s own disappointment in the film’s thematic direction. The story claims that the book’s “Complex weave of emotions has made Ender especially difficult to film and has resulted in two decades of fizzled studio meetings, dead-end scripts and a marathon director search....

Read into this what you will, but Winston Duke has reportedly had his role greatly expanded in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Appearing in the original movie a M’Baku, Duke is one of several stars from the first to reprise their roles. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Duke’s pay for the sequel recently went up significantly after the actor reportedly negotiated a hefty pay raise for an “expanded” role in the new movie....

Working Title has confirmed there will be a third installment in the Bridget Jones series starring Renee Zellweger. The British producer also attached Cate Blanchett for a lead role in director Joe Wright’s Indian Summer. According to Executive Producer Michael R Polis, Tokyo Pop and Jim Henson Co are collaborating on extending two of their biggest properties: The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. Both are of manga graphic novel style, with less liberties taken on the art design of The Dark Crystal as to retain it’s original character design. Labyrinth takes place 14 years later, when a grown up Tobey returns back to the Goblin Kingdom. All the original characters will be in tact....

Battle: Los Angeles director Jonathan Liebesman is currently prepping the sequel Wrath of the Titans. He recently revealed that the project will be converted to 3D during post-production, instead of actually shooting in 3D. Here’s what he had to say about the decision to convert, with one of the reasons being he wants to shoot the sequel on film instead of digital. The director also revealed he was hesitant about converting to 3D, given the negative backlash surrounding the conversion of Clash of the Titans....

While we’ve sporadically received casting announcements for Fox’s upcoming X-Men TV show, we’re finally seeing everyone gathered at the table read this morning, thanks to producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who has been with the franchise since its start in 2000. Netflix has been heavily investing in their original programming as of late, and the strategy is paying off. The award season is well underway with the 2023 Academy Awards just around the corner. On Tuesday, the highly anticipated Oscar nominees were officially announced with industry favorites such as The Banshees of Inisherin and Everything Everywhere All At Once receiving their rightful recognition. However, many films that were considered front runners in this year’s Oscar nominee predictions were iced out of nominations. The absence of women in the Best Director category spoke loudly, which features only men battling for the coveted honor this year....

Zack Snyder on developing the Frank Miller graphic novel. It’s one of the most anticipated films all year - 300. From the mind of Frank Miller, Zack Snyder wrote and directed the graphic novel adaptation starring Gerard Butler, Lena Headey. The film shows the early demise of the Spartan army in ancient times; Snyder used the newest technology to bring Frank’s drawings to life.
