Fabulous Fischoeders
Even a casual fan of Bob’s Burgers will be familiar with these eccentric brothers. Calvin Fischoeder (left), voiced by Kevin Kline (Sophie’s Choice, A Fish Called Wanda), and Felix Fischoeder (right), voiced by Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover, Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis), have long been a thorn in the side of the Belchers.
While Felix likely finds himself in custody following a nefarious plot earlier in the show’s run, we already know Calvin Fishoeder will be making an appearance in The Bob’s Burgers Movie. This is excellent news for anyone anticipating a movie musical, given that Mr. Fishoeder’s previous ditties have been some of the best in Bob’s Burgers history. Bob and his family will likely find themselves mildly to massively inconvenienced by the actions of their wealthy landlord during this film.
The Talking Toys
In the very first episode of Bob’s Burgers season seven, Louise is overtaken by a nasty virus. The aptly named opening episode “Flu-ouise” introduces us to anthropomorphic versions of the youngest Belcher’s cadre of plastic buddies. In the hallucinogenic throes of her flu, Louis confronts her own fears around growing up and ultimately forgives her family for badly damaging her favorite toy (whose warped plastic head is pictured above).
“Flu-oiuse” is a fan favorite episode, and for good reason. Louise’s toys, a strange assortment of colorful creatures, turn this episode into a mind-bending musical, singing a number of songs to the sick young girl. Fortunately, The Bob’s Burgers Movie trailer showed fans a glimpse of these long-standing characters. Even more promising, the voice talents behind the toys were undoubtedly around during the filming. The warped green Kuchi Kopi has been voiced by H. Jon Benjamin, Bob Belcher himself, and another creature, a blue octopus, is given life by John Roberts, who plays Linda.
Bellowing Belchers
But why do we need the always infuriating Mr. Fischoeder or a group of musical, moralizing toys? The gang’s all here; Bob, Linda, Tina, Gene, and Louise. The fab five, as it were. Every single character has had a dazzling performance throughout the show’s history. Whether its Bob waxing poetic about his happy place, Linda espousing the holiday spirit, Tina shouting a spicy Spanish love song, Gene singing an ironic tune about his disdain for music, or Louise duetting her father about the dangers of toilet time, there isn’t a single member of the Belcher clan who can’t carry a tune.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie will undoubtedly showcase the Belcher family. In the trailer, the three children can be seen on various exploits, setting the stage for a potential three-part harmony for the ages. The loving couple, Bob and Linda, are poised to have a few duets of their own. Family has been a prominent theme in Bob’s Burgers from the very beginning. Fans love the dysfunctional Belchers and their relatable exploits. In service of said fans, The Bob’s Burgers Movie should feature performances from any and all members of our favorite family.
Call us Jimmy Buffet, because there’s nothing any of us want more than a juicy hamburger. We can almost taste the premiere of The Bob’s Burgers Movie. It’s been over ten years since the show’s humble beginnings. At this point, anything less than a triple-decker feature, complete with a unique assortment of musical toppings, will fail to satiate the appetite of long-term fans. Only a musical will be meaty enough.
