6 Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (2018)

     Showbox

Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum is an immaculate movie for anyone who is a huge fan of horror movies. It revolved around the story where in 1979, about 42 patients at Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital ended up killing themselves. Due to strange stories and rumors about this now abandoned place, a group of teens ends up visiting it in order to explore whether it is as haunted as everyone claims. Wi plays the role of a boy named Ha Joon who is basically the one who decided to film the entire event. He does a phenomenal job of portraying this character and how eventually he gets terrorized by the ghosts at the hospital. There is no doubt that acting in a scary movie is particularly difficult. However, his expressive eyes made it seem like a piece of cake. His scene where he feels someone brushing up against him will keep the watchers staying up all night because it is just that plausible! In fact, this film is the reason why he was nominated for Best New Actor three times.

5 Midnight (2021)

     CJ EntertainmentTving

Midnight is a thriller film that portrays Wi Ha-joon’s inexplicable acting abilities as a psychotic serial killer. The film essentially revolves around Kyeong-Mi, a deaf young girl who unexpectedly interrupts a murder. This led to her becoming the prey of a manipulative and unduly clever serial killer, Du-shik, played by Wi Ha-joon. Do-shik is often called the “Jekyll and Hyde ’’ villain. This is on the grounds that he suddenly transforms from a friendly personality to an unhinged killer. Changing your expressions from soft to extremely threatening isn’t an easy feat. Wi’s shifts from one personality to another are extremely bone-chilling and will leave the audience stunned. While the writing of the film may have been critiqued by reviewers, no one can deny the astonishing performance Wi gave. Even though he is deranged, fans will find themselves falling for him more because he is just that captivating, even while having blood smeared all over his face!

4 Romance Is A Bonus Book (2019)

     tvNNetflix

If one wants to see Wi Ha-joon in a soft boy aesthetic, this is it! Romance is a Bonus Book mainly tells the tale of Kang Dan-I and Cha Eun-ho, two childhood friends. While life hasn’t been easy for Dan-I as she goes through a divorce, and tries to stand up on her feet again, she reconnects with Eun-ho and eventually falls in love. Wi Ha-Joon will make the audience suffer through a painful disease known as second lead syndrome by portraying the role of Ji Seo-Joon, a book designer, who develops romantic feelings for Dan-I. This soft and gentle character is enough to make every watcher melt into two. Romance is a bonus book is a perfect example of showing how wide range is Wi acting, and he can fit any role perfectly. While through his acting he portrays a gentle and ideal boyfriend, his most memorable scene has to be his bromance with Lee Jong-Suk, who plays Eun-ho. When both end up sleeping together after getting drunk will make the audience laugh and ship the two more than anything!

3 Shark: The Beginning (2021)

     TVING

Shark: The Beginning is quite a theatrical film. It tells the tale of Cha Woo-sol, who attacks a bully at his high school with a pen and is given a three-year juvenile prison sentence. During his time, Woo-Sol meets Jung Do-Hyun, played by Wi Ha-joon. Jung Do-hyun is a former MMA fighter who was sentenced to jail for the murder of three men who harmed his family. The movie then follows both and how Do-hyun teaches Woo-sol how to not only survive in prison but face his bully.

This film is packed with action scenes, which Wi Ha-joon does effortlessly. This film is another great acting project through which Wi Ha-joon shows the world what a great performer he truly is. Whether he has to act completely heartbroken after seeing his family take their last breath or acts fierce and aggressive while teaching Woo-Sol, Wi pre-eminently does it all, which will make the audience get obsessed with his acting range even more than before!

2 Bad and Crazy (2021)

     tvNiQIYI

This is hands down Wi Ha-joon’s most amazing script, in which he truly outperformed nearly all the other characters, and that says a lot, considering he is working with A-list actors in this show! Anyone who has seen Bad and Crazy will completely agree that no one could have done a better portrayal of K better than him. The story revolves around Soo Yeol, an accomplished Anti-Corruption Unit member who is known for his corrupt ethics. Things take an interesting turn when K, a justice-seeking person, enters his life.

Wi Ha-joon as K is refreshing and just such a delightful experience to watch. He is unhinged and funny, yet extremely lovable. His scene where he introduces his name to Soo Yeol, and he misheard it as Gay will leave tears of laughter in the eyes of the audience, especially due to how Wi acts in that scene. Not only that, there are many other scenes where the audience will see him act as a puppy in love, yet completely unhinged to seek justice at the same time.

1 Little Women (2022)

Little Women, Netflix’s most recent Korean drama, is definitely Wi Ha-Joon’s best of the best performance. While the drama primarily focuses on the Oh sisters, who grew up living in poverty, Wi Ha-Joon’s character as Choi Do-il is immensely significant for the story as well. When the eldest sister Oh In-Ju acquires millions of dollars after her friend commits suicide. Choi Do-il enters her life investigating the mystery of missing slush fund ledgers.

Wi Ha-Joon plays the role of a character who is quite mysterious and reticent to both the audience and In-ju. As the story proceeds the audience gets to see beneath the layers that he tries to hide; however, one cannot completely trust him as there is so much more to him than what meets the eye. Acting as a mysterious character is quite overdone in K-dramas, but to do it and yet still feel alluring and intriguing is quite challenging, but not for Wi! In addition, he does a great job of acting soft, and gentle in front of In-ju’s sister and cold and chilling to In-ju in another scene. While the role was extremely demanding, Wi Ha-joon pulled it off beautifully, which made the audience aching for more.
