In a recent interview with Deadline, Reynolds was asked about the possibility of a musical number between Deadpool and Wolverine. Though he didn’t confirm or deny the idea, he did joke about the difficulty of singing while “gargling his blood.”

Ryan Reynolds has only recently entered the musical genre with Spirited, which received generally positive reviews. On the other hand, Hugh Jackman has a long history in theater, and he brought that experience into his film career starting with Les Misérables. The film earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor and a Golden Globe for the same category. He went on to find further success in the musical genre with The Greatest Showman, which was a box office hit, despite mixed reviews from critics. The film earned him another Golden Globe nomination and has since sparked talks of a potential sequel.

“I don’t know. I would have trouble singing as I’m gargling his blood [laughs]. No, we’ll see.”

Deadpool 3 is shaping up to be one of the most highly-anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe entries, as Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson is set to team up with Hugh Jackman’s Logan, aka Wolverine. However, according to Reynolds, bringing these two iconic characters together is no easy feat. In a recent interview, he described the challenge of balancing the tone of the film.

What we do know is that Deadpool 3 will mark the character’s official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and fans are eagerly awaiting to see how the Merc with a Mouth will fit into the larger MCU landscape. With Reynolds at the helm, it’s safe to say that the film will be packed with the same irreverent humor and fourth-wall breaking antics that made the first two Deadpool movies such huge hits. And now with the addition of Wolverine, it’s certain to be a cinematic experience like no other.

“I think it’s a tightrope walk. I mean most of these movies are always a tightrope walk of tone, so in this instance, though, you have a collision of two pretty iconic characters that exist in the Marvel Ancillary Universe [laughs] — we’re in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point.” Reynolds said. “It’s really kind of finding a way to service both of these characters that feels extraordinarily authentic to each of them, and I think these two wrongs actually will make a right in a pretty great way.”

Deadpool 3 is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2024.
