Slipping back into the role of Fez for That ’90s Show will take more than just putting on outdated clothing for a series set decades in the past. After starring in every season of That ’70s Show as Fez, the foreign exchange student who befriends the group that hangs out in the Forman family basement, Wilmer Valderrama has signed on to reprise the role for a sequel series in the works at Netflix.
This will be the first time he’s played the role since That ’70s Show ended in 2006. Sixteen years later, Valderrama will now have to channel the character’s distinct accent that he used in all eight seasons of the original series. Taking to Instagram, Valderrama posted an image of his script for an episode of That ’90s Show featuring Fez’s return. The actor teases that he’s still working on getting the accent just right for the character’s comeback.

In the caption, Valderrama wrote, “To whom it may concern… Now if I could just remember the accent.”

Most of Fez’s old pals will also be featured when the character returns on That ’90s Show. Netflix previously announced that the show also brings back Topher Grace as Eric, Laura Prepon as Donna, Mila Kunis as Jackie, and Ashton Kutcher as Kelso. Danny Masterson will not return as Hyde, most likely due to the actor’s current legal problems which had already gotten him fired from the Netflix series The Ranch.

That ’90s Show Brings Back Most of The Original Main Cast
Netflix
Fez and the gang will likely be featured in a limited capacity, perhaps for special appearances, and not as main characters. However, two originals will be back as the series stars Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp reprising their roles as Red and Kitty Forman. The series takes place back in Wisconsin where the Formans live, though they now look after their granddaughter Leia (Callie Haverda) and her friends during the 1990s. You can read the official logline below.
The series also stars Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Reyn Doi, and Sam Morelos. Smith and Rupp executive produce with That ’70s Show creators Bonnie and Terry Turner, who also serve as writers. Their daughter, Lindsey Turner, also executive produces with Marcy Carsey and Tom Werner under The Carsey-Werner Company.
That ’90s Show does not yet have a premiere date set at Netflix. With production on the series currently underway, and after a first look image had previously been released featuring the return of the Formans (seen above), we should hopefully not be too far off from seeing a teaser.
