The mask shows a very different face for Winnie the Pooh, with the usually loveable bear sporting large, blank, black eyes rather than the small friendly ones he usually has. Pooh’s face has drooped into a melting visage of terror, with the sheer amount of blood around his big-toothed mouth alarmingly suggesting that Pooh’s diet now includes things other than just honey.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey comes as a result of A.A. Milne’s original Winnie the Pooh stories entering the public domain recently. The movie will follow Pooh and Piglet as they go on a rampage after Christopher Robin abandons them. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey will introduce a feral version of the treasured characters, with director Rhys Frake-Waterfield revealing that the pair are out for bloody and brutal revenge against their former friend.

“Christopher Robin is pulled away from them, and he’s not (given) them food, it’s made Pooh and Piglet’s life quite difficult,” the filmmaker explained. “Because they’ve had to fend for themselves so much, they’ve essentially become feral. So they’ve gone back to their animal roots. They’re no longer tame: they’re like a vicious bear and pig who want to go around and try and find prey.”

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey Will Introduce a Version of Pooh & Piglet the Likes of Which have Never Been Seen Before

Produced independently, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey was shot in England over ten days and officially wrapped in May. Several stills from the movie have since made their way online, and tease a version of Pooh and Piglet the likes of which have never been seen on screen before. Sadly, adored depressed donkey Eeyore will not be among them, as he has been – wait for it – devoured by a starving Pooh and Piglet.

“Pooh and Piglet experience a drastic drop in food as Christopher grew up,” Frake-Waterfield revealed. “Over the years they became increasingly hungry and feral. They had to resort to eating Eeyore. Then Christopher returns with his wife to introduce her to his old friends. And when that happens, they get enraged when they see them. All of the hatred they’ve built up over the years unleashes and then they go on this rampage. That continues when they end up at this rural house with these girls.”

Written and directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield and starring Craig David Dowsett as Pooh Bear and Chris Cordell as Piglet, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey has not yet been given a release date, but is expected to debut in 2023. There is clearly a massive fanbase for the movie already who patiently await the arrival of this murderous version of the A.A. Milne characters.
