The spectacle in the trial against Amber Heard got ramped up on Monday when a woman in attendance with her baby had to be removed after a head-turning outburst. Circus atmosphere aside, the support for Depp and Heard is obviously split, but the momentum seems to lean more towards the Pirates of the Caribbean star. Johnny Depp is suing his ex-wife to the tune of $50 million for defamation for allegedly making false domestic abuse accusations against him, further claiming such claims has hurt his career. Heard is counter-suing Depp for defamation for $100 million. The courtroom battle centers around a 2018 Washington Post op-ed penned by Heard in which she described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”

Heard’s attorneys are calling for Depp to take the witness stand, presumably to answer under oath questions like how his finger got severed. However, things got a little side-tracked after a woman stood up in the courtroom to declare her love for Depp and inform him that he is the father of her baby.

Just before Judge Penney Azcarate took her place on the bench in a Fairfax, VA courtroom on Monday, a woman present for the proceedings decided to take advantage of the break, held up a baby and shouted:

Depp reportedly turned around to wave, but when she held up her baby and yelled, “This baby is yours,” the woman was swiftly removed from the courtroom by a deputy. Law & Crime Network correspondent Angenette Levy describes what took place as the woman is seen in the background speaking with someone on the street.

“Johnny, I love you! Our souls are connected!”

Meanwhile, Heard’s team tapped veteran orthopedic surgeon Dr. Richard Moore to testify regarding Depp’s severed finger mishap, which the actor claims Heard caused in 2015. Moore testified that the wound was “not consistent” with the description provided by Depp but sounded more like an injury to a finger caused by a crushed door. According to Moore:

Previously, Heard’s lawyers stated that Depp hurt his finger, pointing to a text sent by the actor that reads that he cut it himself. Depp is expected to be questioned by his own attorneys as a rebuttal witness either Wednesday or Thursday.

“If a bottle struck the nail, there certainly would have been an injury to the nail bed.”
