Peacock has just released the trailer for the rom-com fantasy thriller Wolf Like Me, the new six-part series that has all viewers describing the premise as “genre-bending.” In the 2 minutes and change trailer we are introduced to our Gary and Mary portrayed by Josh Gad (Frozen) and Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers) as they have a meet-cute involving a devasting car crash with ominous music accompanying the near-fatal collision, all with Gary’s emotionally fragile child (Ariel Donoghue) in the car. And the sparks inexplicably fly! It’s the kind of story you tell your grandchildren or your grandpups!

The Peacock official synopsis reads: “Everyone brings their own set of baggage to a new relationship — and Gary and Mary are no different. Gary is an emotional wreck and struggles to provide for his daughter since the death of his wife. Mary has a secret she can’t bring herself to share with anyone. The universe brought these two together for a reason, they just need to keep following the signs.”

“We fell in love with Abe Forsythe’s imaginative storytelling and gift for creating complex and compelling characters. With the incredibly talented Isla Fisher and Josh Gad at the center, Wolf Like Me will be engaging, quirky and wholly original,” said Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Content, NBC Universal Television and Streaming.

“Wolf Like Me is a very meaningful project for me,” said Forsythe speaking with Deadline. “The stakes are extremely high but grounded by things we can all relate to. I’m so excited to have Isla and Josh on board, and I know the audience will be surprised seeing them in a different way as these characters. I was never going to tell this story with anyone other than Made Up Stories, and I feel very fortunate for us all to be teaming up with Endeavor Content and to have found a home with Peacock and Stan.”

The new series is written and directed by Litte Monsters director Abe Forsythe. Speaking to People, the writer/director described his vision saying, “I’d love for audiences to go into watching the series not knowing where it’s going or what gets revealed as the show progresses because I think if that happens, then it’s going to shock and surprise people. You get to the end of every episode and there’s a reason that you have to keep watching.”

Josh Gad’s upcoming projects include Darrin Prescott’s debut feature, the action-comedy, Snow Ponies, starring alongside Jon Bernthal and Evan Peters. Prescott’s talents as stuntman and stunt coordinator for blockbusters Black Panther, Baby Driver and John Wick: Chapter 2 are sure to color his story of a tough group of men warding off ruthless bandits and brutal obstacles as they travel across a treacherous landscape to deliver a mysterious package. Gad will also be reprising his role for the spin-off prequel as LeFou along with Luke Evans as Gaston in the upcoming Beauty and The Beast TV mini-series for Disney+. He’s also teamed up with Rick Moranis to bring us the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids reboot, Shrunk, where an amateur scientist and father accidentally shrinks his family with his latest invention.

Wolf Like Me begins streaming on Peacock on January 13.
