Professional wrestler Rebecca Quin, aka WWE’s Becky Lynch, nearly joined the MCU with a planned scene in Eternals that never made it to the theatrical cut. Word of Lynch’s nixed MCU debut comes via a new report from Fightful Select (via TheDirect), which states that Lynch was set to appear in a post-credit scene that also included Harry Styles’ Eros. It’s unclear who Lynch played in the scene, but it would have been to “set up something for a future installment,” suggesting there were bigger plans for the popular grappler in the MCU.

It’s not entirely clear if Lynch had actually filmed the scene on location in front of the cameras or if it wound up getting tossed before filming began. One reason why this hasn’t been addressed officially could be that there’s still a chance Lynch will still debut as this mystery character elsewhere in the MCU for an upcoming movie or Disney+ series. Marvel producers were said to be happy with Lynch’s acting, which had nothing to do with the scene getting nixed. According to the report, the scene was actually cut because it was “too depressing,” though no other details are provided.

This information does fall in line with what director Chloe Zhao previously said about Eternals having an alternate ending that was “really bleak.” She told Empire last year that there was an original ending where everyone had their “minds erased” before heading to another planet, unsure of what was coming next, and she suggested that this wouldn’t go down well with audiences, leading to an ending change. Perhaps the reported cut post-credit scene involving Lynch was connected to that original ending. Meanwhile, it was also reported in 2020, while Eternals was still in production, that Lynch was rumored to join the MCU.

Meanwhile, Lynch has been doing some acting when taking time off from WWE. She previously appeared in the WWE-produced sequel The Marine 6: Close Quarters and did voiceover work for the animated feature Rumble. More recently, Lynch played music legend Cyndi Lauper last month for an episode of Young Rock, the biographical sitcom about the life and career of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The Rock also offered his praise to lynch, who was credited under her real name Rebecca Quin for the role.

“Becky takes on the daunting and FUN task of playing the one and only - the icon Cyndi Lauper,” The Rock said in his IG post. “I was right there for Becky’s audition and we were all very impressed at her high level commitment as an actor to become Cyndi Lauper. No easy task, but she worked her butt off and went all in - and crushed it.”
