When season four of Yellowstone concluded, viewers were left to wonder if John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) political run would prove successful. The recently released season five trailer is answering that question even before the neo-western drama returns to Paramount on November 13. The opening scene of the drama-filled trailer shows the Dutton family patriarch being sworn in as Governor of Montana, promising to protect the state from foreign and domestic enemies.

The family, who owns the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, the largest cattle ranch in the state, is accustomed to making enemies, and it seems like season five will bring more. In the trailer, we watch as Dutton fires everyone who previously worked at the governor’s office, and within seconds, he’s appointing a new Chief-of-Staff. The powerful position goes to his daughter Beth (Kelly Reilly), who is unfailingly loyal to her father. In another scene included in the trailer, Dutton professes his love for Montana, but makes it clear that he’s taken on the political position for the interests of his family. The trailer’s last second reveal the season’s tagline: Power has a price.
