Spoiler Warning: You Seasons 1-3

The Netflix series You will be returning for a highly anticipated fourth season, following the chaos of obsessive stalker and serial killer Joe Goldberg. You season 3 ended in flames (literally) with Joe murdering his wife, Love, abandoning his son Henry, and setting fire to his suburban home in Madre Linda. He even staged his own death by severing a couple of toes and leaving them behind at the home with a fake suicide note from Love, confessing to the murders.

Leaving behind his old life, Joe finds himself in Paris at the end of season 3 in search of his new love obsession, Marienne. After being warned by Love that Joe is dangerous, Marienne takes her daughter and flees Madre Linda to escape Joe, but the question remains will she succeed, or will Joe catch up to her? Read on to find out everything you need to know about You season 4.

You: The Plot

For this season, Joe reinvents himself and takes on the alias of professor Jonathan Moore. He even grows a beard to aid his disguise. Although season 3 ends with Joe in Paris, the setting for season 4 will, in fact, be London, where Joe, aka Jonathan, works and resides. We can also gather from the teaser trailer that despite adopting a new identity, Joe will soon be up to his old shenanigans, sporting his black baseball cap and chasing after love.

The trailer also hints at Marienne’s return in season 4, which means that Joe is successful in tracking her down. Beyond this, little is known about the plot, but of course, we can speculate based on the information from the trailer and on the pattern of behaviors exhibited by Joe in the previous seasons. According to the trailer, Joe announces, “gone are the days of unrequited love and longing,” which could mean a couple of things, either that he has found love again and is satiated for the time being, or he has found a new love in academia and given up his pursuit of romantic endeavors. We wager to guess, it means the former, seeing as he manages to track down Marienne.

Of course, Joe alludes to keeping his “usual extracurricular activities” purely professional, but what exactly that means to a stalker and serial killer, we will have to find out. But there is no doubt that he will soon be up to his usual behaviors of obsession and stalking. Most likely with Marienne being the subject of his fixation, but possibly someone else if another woman happens to catch his eye. It is also not too far-fetched to assume that season 4 will bring us more murder and death, but the who, what, how, when, where, and why are yet to be seen.

You: The Cast

Season 4 will also introduce several new characters, but the familiar faces that will be returning include Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg, the star serial killer of the series, and Tati Gabrielle as Marienne Bellamy, Joe’s lastest love obsession. Joining the main cast will be Euphoria’s Lukas Gage as Adam, Ghosts’ Charlotte Ritchie as Kate, EastEnders’ Tilly Keeper as Lady Phoebe, EastEnders Amy-Leigh Hickman as Nadia, and Outlander’s Ed Speelers as Rhys. Other recurring cast introduced in the trailer include Aidan Cheng as Simon, Niccy Lin as Sophie, Eve Austin as Gemma, Dario Coates as Connie, and Ozioma Whenu as Blessing.

Gage will portray Adam, the youngest son of a wealthy family who likes to party hard and gamble. The official You Twitter page announced that Adam is famous for failing to meet his family’s expectations. He will also take on the role of Joe’s nemesis in season 4. With such a target on his back, we’ll have to see if he survives until the end. Ritchie has been cast as Kate, an art gallery director who does not like Joe and has her reservations and suspicions about him from the moment they meet.

Keeper joins the cast as Lady Phoebe, a rich and famous young socialite with an avid fan base. Phoebe also has another side to her that she only lets her closest friends see. Hickman portrays Nadia, a literature major with aspirations to be an author. Nadia is described as outspoken, intense, and insecure as she struggles to be accepted by her peers. Speelers will play Rhys, an irreverent author who is being pressured to pursue a political career after the publication of his memoir.
