Zack Snyder fans have been campaigning for Army of the Dead to be acknowledged at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony, and the man of the hour himself has added his voice to the movement. Recently, it had been announced that the Oscars will allow fans to vote for a special award for a “Fan Favorite” film released over the past year. Though Zack Snyder’s Justice League quickly emerged as a top contender, fans were disheartened to learn that the film was ineligible as a director’s cut of a movie released years prior.
Snyder’s fans realized that while “Snyder Cut” couldn’t be recognized at the Oscars, another big release by the director qualified. Last year, Snyder released the action-packed zombie movie Army of the Dead on Netflix, serving as one of the biggest releases of the year for the streamer. Noticing the fans lobbying for Army of the Dead to get the Fan Favorite award, Snyder jumped on Twitter to encourage fans to keep up the voting.

Win, lose or draw. So grateful to my fans. You’re truly the best. Still time to vote for ARMY OF THE DEAD until March 3rd," Snyder says, providing a link to OscarsFanFavorite.com.
Zack Snyder Fans Know How Campaigning Can Bring Results

We know that fans banding together on social media can sometimes make things happen. One of the most notable examples is the journey into getting the famous “Snyder Cut” released. For several years, fans had been campaigning for Warner Bros. to release the original, extended version of Justice League that was more in line with Snyder’s original vision. Ultimately, the company obliged the fans by putting Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max in 2021.
The hope here is that enough fans will vote for Army of the Dead to similarly get that film enough votes to be named the Fan Favorite movie as the Oscars this year. While the film has made a lot of traction with fans on social media doing their part to help Snyder, Army of the Dead faces some competition from an unlikely contender. Prime Video’s Cinderella musical film emerged as the movie with the most votes and had been on track to pick up the Fan Favorite award. There is still time for Army of the Dead or another movie, such as the mighty popular Spider-Man: No Way Home, to come back around before voting closes on March 3.
You can watch Army of the Dead on Netflix. Because the movie pulled in very high viewership for the streamer, a sequel is officially in the works, though Snyder will first develop the sci-fi film Rebel Moon. As for the Oscars, the 94th Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, March 27.
